Established in almost the geographical centre of Poland, the city is located on an international European road intersection (i.e. Gdansk - Vienna, Prague - Moscow, Berlin - Kiev, Gdansk - Rome, Gdansk - Athens, Warsaw - Zurich, Warsaw - Barcelona), near to important national arterial roads (Gdansk - Cieszyn, Warsaw - Wroclaw, Warsaw – Katowice, Poznan – Radom). The Warsaw - Katowice – Vienna railroad connection also runs through Piotrkow, similarly to the A-1 highway, part of which fringes the western borders of the city. An airfield, one with an 800-metre long concrete airstrip suitable for cargo class planes, is conveniently situated within the city bounds. Being an investor-friendly city, Piotrkow invites not only entrepreneurs, but tourists as well. The Old Town with its medieval layout, defensive city walls from the 15th century, baroque churches and interesting architecture of the Old Market Square and the Zygmunt Stary Castle will charm every history lover. Piotrkow is also known for being the cradle of Polish two-chamber parliament and, with this, democracy on the Polish soil. (This information is expanded in the History section.)
