Piotrków - European Union partner
"City - European Union partner" - the title our city received in competition organized by Polish Cities Union in order to promote knowledge about European Union. Piotrków is an experienced city concerning European integration. Today we cooperate with 6 European cities. In 1998 Piotrków was awarded Golden Star of Partnership. . Besides Piotrków in the Polish Cities Union Competition the following cities were prized: Lębork, Elbląg, Poznań. All the cities bet i.e. Gdańsk, Kraków, Lublin, Toruń and Zielona Góra. (09.2002)
Regional Multimedia Integration Forum
In Piotrków Trybunalski and other main cities in Łódź province took place multimedia conference. It was organized under auspices of Danuta Hübner - Secretary of European Integration Committee, Sławomir Wiatr - Government Plenipotentiary to European Information, Mieczysław Teodorczyk - Marshal of Łódź province. During the conference information about advantages of Poland joining European Union was presented as well as using of European founds and efficient Poland activity in European Commonwealth. 200 representatives of self-governments, employers, office servants and teachers were invited. Participants took part in inquiry "Are you for or against Poland joining EU?" 70% of responders were for, 20% were against and 10% had no opinion". (05.2002)

During the conference advantages of information service provided by Regional Centre of European Information were presented. Participants could visit the exhibition tilted Piotrków - multicultural city that for the first time was presented in Brussels. (03.2002)

II Piotrków European Meetings

I Piotrków European Meetings
On 22-23 of June 2001 I European Meetings in Piotrków were organized. The purpose of the meetings was to promote an idea of United Europe between Piotrków inhabitants. Two conferences were organized. The first one with participation of Janusz Truszczyński - State Secretary Deputy to European Integration in Government concerning pre joining European Union founds accessible for territorial self-governments, average and small companies and agriculture. It was organized on The Royal Castle and 60 people participated. The second conference with participation of Sławomir Urbaniak - State Secretary Deputy in European Integration Committee. After his performance was a discussion about chances and threatens for Poland after joining EU.
During I European Meetings European Parade took place. It was organized by "Euro-Centrum" Association and School European Clubs from Piotrków Trybunalski. Students wearing yellow and blue clothes with flags of European Union countries marched along main streets of the city. The parade was finished on Piotrków Aero club where party for inhabitants of Piotrków last up to late evening (06.2001)
Presentation of Piotrków Trybunalski in Brussels
On 22 of November in Polish Diplomatic Agency in Brussels presentation of Piotrków Trybunalski took place. 200 guests were invited. Mayor of Piotrków - Andrzej Pol - presented history and present problems of the city. Partner cooperation between Piotrków and Esslingen presented Udo Goldman - Mayor of Esslingen. Harmut Welck - representative of land Badenia-Wirtenbergia who visited Piotrków two times also told about Piotrków. He warmly told about youth and their enthusiasm for Poland joining United Europe. Małgorzata Majczyna - Head of City Development Department presented problems of the old part of the city renovation and ring road building. Two films were presented there. First one concerning cultural events in Piotrków, the second about European initiatives of Development, Promotion and European Integration Association "Euro-Centrum".
Unofficial part of the meeting started with traditional Polish meal. Dish of hashed sausage, pork and beef stewed in sauerkraut, bread with fat, sour cucumbers and even beer brought from Piotrków brewery were served. (11.2001)
Golden Star of Partnership
Piotrków Trybunalski commonly with Velenje (Slovenia), Esslingen (Germany), Schiedam (Holland) and Vienne (France) is the laureate of Golden Star of Partnership that was granted by representatives of European Parliament, European Communes and Regions Committee and United Cities Organization in Brussels on 13 of November 1998 in Italian city Ferrara.
This award is granted for engagement in partner cooperation, European integration and promotion of cooperation between inhabitants of Europe.
